Mary Day Long
Born on an Air Force Base in Idaho, Mary Day Long was raised in East Texas. After a year in Europe, she studied painting at UT Austin, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, exhibiting her paintings throughout California and beyond. Photography eventually overtook painting as her main passion, and family matters brought her back to Texas.

Now based in Austin, Long works mostly in monochrome infrared imagery, capturing landscapes, street scenes, and anything that catches her eye. Her year-long daily photo project was recently exhibited at Austin’s Dougherty Art Center, and the accompanying catalog, The Year of the Pandemic, is available at Blurb.com.

Her current project is a series of photobooks, capturing various iconic and lesser-known destinations in infrared images, from her Central Texas home area to more exotic locations like Bagan, Myanmar.
